• The mechanisms of extreme weather events, including heatwaves and heavy precipitation
• Impacts of Arctic sea ice decline on extreme weather in middle and high latitudes
• Impacts of Antarctic sea ice decline on emperor penguins
• Interdisciplinary research on climate change and its interactions with ecosystems
